Dr. Deborah Sage - London, UK

Dr Deborah Sage is a Consultant Clinical Scientist with over 30 years experience in the field of HLA.  She completed her PhD on HLA-DPB1 Immunogenetics in HSCT in 1996 and has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists for 26 years.  She is Head of the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Department at NHS Blood and Transplant in Tooting, London and has extensive experience in the provision of H&I services in support of Blood Transfusion, Kidney Transplantation and Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation.

Deborah is currently Chairperson of the European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI) Education Committee and has been instrumental in delivering the ETHIQ training programme for technologists across Europe and establishing a successful programme of EFI educational webinars. In the UK, Deborah has been Chairperson of the British Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (BSHI) and has played an active role in training H&I scientists at all levels in the UK, being part of the Higher Specialist Scientific Training curriculum development group for H&I and Chair of the BSHI Education Board.
