19th International HLA & Immunogenetics Workshop (19th IHIWS)

On behalf of Katsushi Tokunaga and Takashi Shiina, the co-chairs of the 19th International HLA & Immunogenetics Workshop (19th IHIWS), we are pleased to announce that the workshop is now scheduled on May 19-24, 2026, at Plaza Verde, Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.

Following the 19th IHIWS, APHIA 2026 will be followed also with Dr. DeSantis and her colleagues’ kind acknowledgement.

Numazu City with Mt. Fuji in background is only a few hours away from Tokyo.  It is a city of tranquility surrounded by beautiful nature both sea and mountains unlike bustling fast paced busy Tokyo.  We believe it is an ideal location to bring our brains together for serious thinking but also afterwards to rejuvenate our body and mind with bountiful and rich regional gastronomy and even soaking ourselves in onsen or hot springs.  You may want to plan to extend your stay for a few days in the region to further enjoy this picturesque area like Hakone or Mt. Fuji.

We, the colleagues in Japan and Asia-Pacific, will collaborate together to bring the meeting to be a great success and memorably enjoyable one to all who participate.
